Hydrogen has already been an important topic in the past, especially in the program of our events and congresses such as the NRW Wind Energy Industry Day. After all, it is a matter of bringing together the many individual forms of energy generation in such a way that security of supply is guaranteed in NRW, Germany and Europe. Over the course of time, we have been able to build up a broad network for this purpose, which has enormously increased our ability to act for the interests of renewable energies.

The association
vgbe energy e.V. is the technical association of energy plant operators. Our members are companies that operate plants for power, heat and cooling generation, energy storage and sector coupling worldwide. We are committed to the goal of developing the economy and society in a climate-neutral and sustainable way. Our contribution is to identify and actively shape the necessary technical options for an environmentally friendly, secure and economical energy supply.
As an independent technical competence center and network, we support our international members in their respective business activities and in the implementation of innovations and strategic tasks. We are the voice of plant operators, also actively contributing to the political and social debate on technical issues in a fact-based manner. Cooperation with all partners along the energy value chain, in particular with manufacturers and service providers, is a key criterion here. We are also available worldwide as a central point of contact for all technical issues relating to the operation of energy plants.
We are committed to a secure, cost-effective and environmentally friendly energy supply. The content focus is on controllable generation and volatile generation from renewable energies as well as on energy storage and sector coupling. Since in the energy system of the future the plant technology will be simpler in many areas than in the past, but the overall system will be more complex, activities relating to system integration will play a greater role in the vgbe portfolio in the future. On the way to a climate-friendly energy system, a balanced energy mix remains important – especially in view of the fact that controllable generation is currently the most important flexibility option in the energy system.
